Hellllooooo, Cardinal Nation!
If you haven’t met me yet, I go by Kelsey Shea. Technically that would be my first and middle name, but that’s how I like it…
I’m 23 years old, and yes I am among the population of recent college graduates who would consider themselves unemployed. I recently moved away from my native St. Louis to Orlando, Florida, and I have since found myself about to relocate once again. But we'll get to that in a minute...
It’s possible you may recognize me from my recent stint as a 2012 MLB Fan Cave Top 30 finalist. Actually, I have difficulty imagining anyone not having heard of it after all the intense marketing, promoting, and social media-ing us contestants had to go through. But then again, I did only reach 196 twitter followers. Anyway, once a theatre major at Truman State University, I was thrust quickly into the world of baseball journalism and taught that I can indeed make a career out of loving my precious Redbirds.
Yes, these days, I’ve found myself drawn to the dimly lit computer screen. Called to from the couch by the slight glow of my MacBook’s keyboard...And so here I am on Fan vs Fan! Out in the blogosphere and ready to talk birds on the bat with you fine people.
But Freese the presses! This is Motte your average blog! (...I promise I have more to offer than the puns I stole from my boyfriend.)
I sure hope to provide insightful commentary throughout the season. You will find I am very much the emotional baseball fan - I tear up when the Cards win, I tear up when they lose...I almost cried half an hour ago watching those genius commericals the organization recently released. So if you're looking for a more statistical take on things, I may not be your girl. What I do promise is that I will focus on the heart of the game, and that I'm extremely passionate about the players that occupy our Busch Stadium.
And now for the news I promised on my upcoming whereabouts. That boyfriend I mentioned and myself are trying to get a project off the ground called Season Ticket: The Ultimate Baseball Project - 30 Parks, 1 Summer. If we gain enough funding, I could be traveling around to every MLB stadium and writing to you from there. But in order to do so, we need to create a following. So if this sounds like something you might be interested in, head on over and check it out! And you can even share our video plea to the very "De"-generous Ellen (on facebook or twitter) in hopes that we gain some kind of sponsorship.
So there you have it! Me in a nutshell!...Or a cracker jack...Or whatever your favorite ballpark snack is.
Now before I say, "Until next time," I almost forgot - one last plug! I need you, Cardinal Nation, to take a few minutes to register with this very site and help me win an argument about our team going all the way this year.
We're mere days from the home opener, so who's ready for the baseball season? Let's do this! 12 in 12!
